Review: Glamour Doll Eyes Halo Collection

 Glamour Doll Eyes: Halo

Glamour Doll Eyes are a small indie company. They have been around since 2008. They offer some of the most amazing loose eyeshadows I have seen for a very long time. It also helps that the owner (Vee) is one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of doing business with, if you have a question, suggestion or need any help with anything she will do everything she can to help you. They even give you 2 free samples with every order (how many small indie companies do you know that do that because GDE is the only one I know of)
Another thing I love about GDE is that you choose the colour(s) you want & then you choose if you want a sample baggie ($1.25 per .5 g), a sample jar ($2.50 per 1g) or a full size jar ($6.00 per 2.5g). If you purchase a sample, try it, love it & decide you need a full size jar they will even deduct the cost of the sample off of the cost of the full size jar, how amaizng is that????
The stunning array of colours leave you needing more. I have what I like to think is a fairly good collection of GDE shadows but there is always room for more :-)
I have been a fan of for just over a year now & will continue to be a fan of their great products for as long as they are around.
Recently they asked if a few bloggers would like the chance to review the Halo collection before its official release date (Jan 20th 2013), I, of course jumped at the chance.

This collection is different from all of the others I have tried. This is a neutral collection, but being GDE its neutral with a difference.

So lets get to the good stuff, On the left is swatched without any primer & on the right is swatched over GDE's Foil me mixing medium
First up is Flawless, this is described as Light beige/pink with subtle turquoise & gold shimmer
Next up is Disclose, this is described as Blackened gold with red & orange shimmer
Exposed is Medium matte grey with subtle multi coloured shimmer
Audacious is Metallic copper/gold with blackened undertones & copper shimmer
Flaunt is a Medium taupe with pink & gold shimmer

Mannequin is Baby pink with metallic qualities & blue shimmer
Vulnerable is Light beige with rose & green shimmer
Imitation is described as Medium beige with dark brown undertones & silver shimmer
Unveil is a Dark matte brown with purple shimmer undertones, also has maroon qualities
And last up is Undressed, this is described as Dark blackened brown with green shimmers

I own very few neutral eyeshadows as I like bold bright colours, so I was a bit apprehensive about this collection, however I need'nt have worried. As you can see this is a beautiful collection & I cant wait to create with it.  I hope you try GDE (if you havent already) & I hope you love it as much as I do x x

Softlips Holiday lipbalms

Hi, its me again. Apologies for the lack of posts recently. I have been crazy busy. I went on a much needed holiday, I then had an order of 200 customised cupcakes & a top tier cake to make for a good friends wedding, we have had even more work done to our house which has been a total nightmare & I am currently supposed to be packing for a short trip to Innsbruck, Austria but have decided I needed to write a blog post about my favourite brand of lipbalm.
Softlips have been a firm favourite of mine for many years now (we all know what a lip balm addict I am :-) ). I have been more than happy with the French Vanilla until I discovered that Softlips actually release a number of different flavours in America.
I drooled over the Halloween set of Marshmallow ghost (how amazing does that sound) but as usual we didnt get it over here in the U.K :-(
I have just seen a review of the new Christmas sets & again they look & sound amazing.
First up is Jack Frosting
This one sounds lush!!!!! I would imagine its almost edible (only almost, actually eating it could be kinda gross lol)
Its described as 'the festive flavor of buttercream frosting', sometimes a food flavoured lipbalm can be done very badly, they taste & smell very artificial but knowing how much I love the French Vanilla I have a feeling this would smell & taste amazing.
Next up is the Peppermint Stick
This one is described as 'classic candy cane flavor'
I dont know about you lot but I LOVE the smell of candy canes. To me it is the epitome of christmas. The sweet vanillary pepperminty scent evokes the most magical memories of christmas for me so again I imagine this one would be amazing also.
Unfortunately Softlips dont release these flavors in the UK & I cant seem to find them anywhere (except ebay where the sellers have hiked the prices up to ridiculous amounts)
I really really really wish some of the bigger brands would release things like this over here. I know we dont do christmas & other holidays in quite the same fashion as America but we still love good products so I believe it would really be in their best interest to bring them over here.
If any of you lovely followers happen to live in America please know that I am immensely jealous as you always get all the best stuff over there while we are left to merely drool over the good stuff from afar ;-)
Much love & good wishes to you all this holiday season.
Take care & stay warm
P.S  Dont forget I am having a lipbalm give-away when I reach 50 followers x x

Anyone for Spaghetti & Meatballs????

The lovely Sandra of asked me to do a blog on this cake I made a few years ago, so here it is (even though it did take me a few weeks to do as I have been super poorly)
I have always loved baking, for as long as I can remember I have loved making cakes & all manner of sweet treats.
This was one of the very first 'proper' cakes I made when I first started decorating cakes about 2 years ago.  My mum asked me to make a cake for a friend of hers so this is what I came up with.

It is very easy to do. Unfortunately I dont have any other pictures of it but it is so simple you dont need any other pictures. All you need is a cake covered in white fondant (Im happy to say my fondant skills have improved since making this haha look at all that creasing in the fondant yuk!), about 2-3 cups of royal icing tinted with coloured gels to make it look like spaghetti, a few ferroro rocher for the meatballs (you didnt really think I would put proper meatballs on a cake???? haha), some jam (either strawberry or raspberry thinned down with a little water) to look like the spaghetti sauce & some white chocolate shaving to look like permesan cheese.
It really is that simple.
If any of you give it a go let me know so I can check out your pics x x

Lip balm collection and my top 5 heroes & hates

As some of you may know, I am an avid collector of lip balms. From ordinary chapsticks to the more high end brands ( I also quite like the novelty ones aswell) This blog post was requested by the lovely but nutty Mez from

I cant quite remember when I started using/collecting them but I know I have been doing it for a few years now and have found a few that I would use over & over & a few that I dont like for various different reasons.

I dont particularly suffer with dry/chapped lips but I like to keep them soft & supple (you never know if your gonna bump into a gorgeous man & he wants to whisk you off your feet based on how soft, smooth & supple your lips are hahahaha)

I am an absolute sucker for buying a lipbalm just because someone has recommended it. That's probably why I have so many. A majority of my novelty ones have been sent to me by some of my lovely friends over on Balmy but Beautiful (Jess a.k.a Boobies & Caroline from )

I love great packaging on anything & fell into the trap of having to have the EOS & Balmi lipbalms but I can honestly say that the packaging is the best bit about them. Please understand that this is merely my opinion, you may well find that they are the best lipbalms you have ever used.

A while ago there was alot of hype about the UK release of the revlon lip butters. I, like everyone else decided that I NEEDED to own them (a few of them at least). Lip balm is the only lip product I tend to use as I dont really like wearing lipstick or lipgloss, but thought I would give them a go. I got my hands on a few different colours but have only used them a couple of times. They were nice but not as good as my trusty lipbalms.

Ok so enough of my ridiculous collection (I didnt quite realise how many I had until doing this blogpost ooooops ;-) )
These are my top 5 Hero lip balms. My reasons for using them time & time again are simple. They moisturise as you would expect of any decent lip balm but they also stay on my lips alot longer than many others I have tried. I hate having to reapply every 20 mins.
In 5th place is Vaseline. Vaseline has been around for many many years & continues to be a great versatile balm. Not only for lips but for pretty much anywhere on the body. It works as a great barrier when dying my hair or tinting my eyebrows. This limited edition Pink Champagne was very kindly sent to me by Nardine from
In 4th place is Murad soothing skin, lip and cuticle care. Again this is another versatile product. I like the fact that this is in pen like packaging so makes it really easy to just chuck it in your handbag & off you go.
In 3rd place is Carmex (cherry, yum) . Well everyone knows carmex is a great lipbalm. I love that these come in pot or tube form. Im not to keen on putting my fingers in my pot of lipbalm & then slathering it on my lips. I prefer to use a tube (contrary to the insane amount of pots I have lol)
In 2nd place is Estelle & Thild (Raspberry) my gorgeous friend Jess very kindly gave this to me from her Selfridges beauty box. I like this one because the scent is very subtle & not at all plastic & artifical.
My ultimate number one is Softlips (french vanilla) I LOVE this lipbalm, I have used it for years now & always go back to it. The smell is very pleasant without being overpowering & it makes your lips all tingly as it contains menthol. I have this as my number one because it keeps my lips moisturised for a long time & doesnt feel 'thick' when applied to my lips.
Ok so now you know my Heroes, lets move onto my Hates. Ok, hate is a very strong word but I couldnt think of anything else that begins with 'H' lol

I wouldnt say these were in any specific order but these are the top 5 lipbalms that I dislike the most out of my collection. Although I would probably say the Yankee lipbalm & the EOS are the ones I dislike the most.
I dont like the Yankee one as to me the scent is very artificial & not pleasant as all. Although its called Christmas Cookie (my favourite scent of the actual Yankee Candles) it doesnt smell anything like the candle. It just smells icky.
I dont like the EOS one as the texture is far to thick for my liking. It just feels very plasticy & the mint one stings my lips (not in a nice tingly way like the softlips)
I must admit I was expecting more from the Eliabeth Arden 8 hr lip conditioner but it didnt do anything for me. It felt pleasant once applied but didnt hydrate my lips anymore than normal & didnt last very long.
The Dr.Hauschka was from one of those times when I got sucked into the hype. I had read online about the 'miracle lip product as used by Jennifer Aniston' so of course I had to get it. Well, what a let down that was! The texture is pleasant but the scent is quite floral (which gives me a headache) & I found that it dried my lips out rather than hydrate them.
Again I heard much hype about the Yes to Carrots range & had to buy them (yes I bought them all because thats just the kind of weirdo I am!)  I was particularly intrigued by the carrot flavoured one & found it to be quite pleasant & not at all carroty lol   Theres nothing much to say about this one really, there nothing I like about it, but nothing I particularly dont like about it.
So there you go, its taken me days to get this little lot together (I found most of them hiding in handbags, the car, the kitchen, in the drawers of my dining table, just about everywhere really. I even found a few of them had made their way into my daughters room haha)
Let me know what you think & if you have any questions please feel free to ask

My name is Stacy & I am 31 years young. I have wanted to get into blogging for a while now but never really had the courage until now.I have been lucky enough to 'meet' a group of amazing ladies from all walks of life who have come together through their love of beauty products. These ladies are responsible for giving me the courage to start this blog & have restored my faith in mankind. They truly are some of the most inspirational, caring, amazing, fantastical ladies you could ever hope to know (you know who you are you wonderful beauties)
I love all things to do with (as you can tell by the title) beauty, baking & balms (lip balms, oh how I have an unhealthy obsession/addiction with lipbalms. Ill post a pic of my current collection soon) I also have a penchant for nail polish but I couldnt make that start with a B so left it out lol
I should have added another B to that, bling. I have a tendancy to bejazzle everything in sight ;-) Again, more on that at a later date.
Im not sure which direction I want this to go yet, whether it be reviews, hauls, showing you what baked goods I have conjured up or just plain boring the life out of you with my mindless drivel (much like this intro)
I have no idea how to make this blog look pretty just yet, but please bear with me & Im sure with your help I can make this baby sparkle to :-)
Anyway, just wanted to say hi & welcome to my little world x x
